Up for auction is a very fine, old, ELEGANT cameo ring. It is solid 14 karat gold with intricate designs. I believe that the vintage ring is from the late 19th century (late 1800's). The intricate carving of the woman is easily seen in the lines of her flowing hair or the petals of the flower in her hair or the fine lines of her small mouth or eyes. The folds of her blouse / dress are also shown delicately cascading over her bosom. She is an elegant and beautiful woman. She looks to be Greek or Persian to some degree. The picture of the side of the ring has some shadow/shine that makes it look off-color, but it is not. T is a very nice gold patina around the edges of the fluting and petals of the golden flowers that form the cap of each arch of the ring at the base of the frame around the stone or shell. I am not sure what type of material it is, but I am sure it is onyx or thick carved shell. The raised carving is of a light cream and the background is light warm pink. The gold frame of the inset is a long octagonal like many of the flip rings from the same era, but while it looks exactly like one, it is not. The a soft five petal flower is the anchor or prong that holds the centerpiece in place one on each of the four main sides. On the insde of the ring it reads 14K on one side and EMCO on the other.
