See all 6 pictures!Offered is this scarce early Mexico City Assayer O Spanish Two Reales Silver Cob . . This 2 Reales silver Cob was minted at the Mexico Mint between 1572 and 1587.. It has a great patina, good weight, and a round shape. The coin is very rare in this condition and of excellent quality and weight.The weight of this coin is 6.7 grams and 29 mm. It is larger than the size of a US Quarter. Working together at the Mexico Mint, the Assayer O is for Bernardo de Onate (1564-1567) or Luis de Ornate (1571-1587) and is found on the left out edge under the oM. A II can be found at the right outer edge. This sharply struck coin was minted during the reign of King Philip II. The Hapsburg Shield is full and sharply struck. The reverse has a full Florenzada Cross with castles and lions in their correct quadrants.The coin shows some evidence on both sides of salt water / shipwreck sea salvage at the outer edges.PROFESSIONALLY ATTRIBUTED SHIPWRECK COINS:This cob has been slabbed and attributed by a company that is not one of eBay's official Big 4 certification and grading companies.
