17" ARTISTS'S DOLL ANTIQUE STYLE TURNED CHINA HEAD W/BUSTLE

Here is a lovely china turned shoulder head doll; the blonde hair is worn in a fancy and embellished style. The face is painted with precision and very good coloring. T he back of the shoulder plate is marked 1962-1982 and I don't know what that signifies other than it may have taken the artist that long to finish this doll. The arms and hand are china with slightly cupped hands; the legs and boots are china with some texture - pink garters, high pink and tan boots with 7 buttons and tassel. The body is firmly stuffed lightweight canvas with "wasp waist" and broad hips. The doll's clothing is exceptional being hand made: the stripe dress has hand-worked buttonholes, antique lace trim around the neckline and sleeves. The cotton petticoat has several rows of lace, as does the pantalettes; the camisole has button closures and she wears a padded bustle. The doll is in exceptional condition.
