This super handsome china male doll is just a wonderful example of the late 1800's china dolls. He is marked on his shoulder plate 880x6 and stands 17 inches tall. He makes a great presentation in a doll cabinet. His original head is unbroken. His beautiful china face has the rosiest of cheeks, with very fine quality china. He has lovely light blue painted eyes, with single stroke eyebrows and painted upper black eyelashes, with a thin tan line above. The pert little nose has a tiny pepper mark to the right side, not detracting. His small rosy mouth is closed and gives him a most serene, serious, look. The left rosy cheek has a delicate, non-detracting white line of about 1/4 inch. His molded wavy curls are black and beautifully carved and painted. The back of the head has only four or five slight areas of paint loss. There is also a small one at the top upper back of the left side. Our young man has a muslin body, reinforced in several areas (please view all pictures). He retains his original china hands and arms and china legs, with simply stunning painted black boots, showing blue accents and gold leaf down the fronts and to the ankle areas. These painted boots are so Victorian and so striking. He is a well dressed young man. Again, I must state that this was a quality made doll.
