This is a collection of about 1750 color slides from an estate sale in Southern California. Found in a trunk in the family room. They were taken in the late 1950s, through the 1970s, by an excellent photographer, as he and his wife travelled thoughout the Middle East and surrounding area. As I researched the places visited, and by the notes on the boxes, I would assume that he was a Biblical Scholar. We sorted through hundreds of boxed 35mm slides, to get them into common groupings. This collection has about 700 in Turkey - Smyrna, Thyatira, Colosee, Izmir, Sardis, Antiock, Pergamos, and Tarsus; about 400 in Jordan - Petra, Amman, Samaria, Dothan, and Jerash; about 150 in Lebanon - Sidon and Tyre; about 100 in Iraq - Babylon, Samarra, and Bagdad; also 80 in Italy, and Malta; 80 in Iran; 70 in Syria; and 30 in Egypt; and more. Subjects include - street scenes, towns, landmarks, people, markets, temples, ruins, countrysides, houses, buildings, historically significant areas, etc.. The slides are mostly Kodachrome, and are in about 75 Kodak slide boxes, with notes on them, indicating w they were taken. About 10% of the slides are commercial, which I usually discard; but these are quite good quality, so I left in their appropriate boxes. The pictures are bright and colorful; and very well composed.
