1755 Robert De Vauguandy Map of the USA United States Hand Colored

Nice example of the first edition of De Vaugondy's map of the English Colonies in America, extending south to South Carolina. The map provides exceptional detail throughout with hand color in outline. Extending from the Mississippi & Illinois Rivers in the West, the map tracks the course of the Ohio from its confluence with the Mississippi to its headwaters in New York. The northwest regions and Ohio are dominated by Native American tribes. The map is noteworthy for its information on the Appalachian Mountains.
