This newspaper was issued twice a week and contained lots of news on the American Revolutionary War. Front page news report on JOHN PAUL JONES , the early US navy hero. This report was shortly after Jones's warship, the Bonnehomme Richard defeated the British Warship Serapis in a very famous early US naval battle. John Paul Jones (July 6, 1747 (1747-07-06 ) – July 18, 1792) was America's first well-known naval fighter in the American Revolutionary War . Although he made enemies among the American ruling class, his actions in British waters during the Revolution earned him an international reputation which persists to this day. During his engagement with Serapis , Jones uttered, according to the later recollection of his First Lieutenant, the legendary reply to a quip about surrender from the British captain: "I have not yet begun to fight!" Very good condition. This listing includes the complete entire original newspaper, NOT just a clipping or a page of it. STEPHEN A. GOLDMAN HISTORICAL NEWSPAPERS stands behind all of the items
