HAVING A SPRING CLEAR OUT - LOTS OF ITEMS TO BE LISTED AT VERY LOW START NO RESERVE PRICES. AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE UNLESS INDICATED OTHERWISE. Interesting and emotive letter dating from 1792, 14th October ( L'An 1 ) written from du Cachot De Cainbshein ( dungeon ) and addressed to Mon General . The opening line reads Je suis detanu dans une cage de planche sans feu, sans lumiere et sans meme au brik de paille pour me repose ( I am detained in an iron cage, without heat, light or a straw bed to rest on ... ). The rest of the document in regarding the prisoners condition and reasons for imprisonment. The bad news is that the letter in incomplete being one p.p. written to both sides but lacking any signature or other page. Presumed to be a military detainee as it is addressed to Mon General. I am not sure if further detailed research could shed some light on the writer, but you never know. Nonetheless an evocative original letter from the first year of the French Revolution, a seminal historical event in European history. It measures 8 inches by 6.5 inches, with some edge chipping on laid, watermarked paper. See the attached detailed photographs for more details including the text. Payment via Paypal only. Postage worldwide from Ireland by Registered Insured Track & Trace Airmail will be a flat rate of $10.
