A 1792 Spanish Gold 1 Escudo Doubloon minted in Madrid. King Charles IIII of Spain was the ruling monarch. GoldDoubloons were minted in the Americas since the 17th century. These coins have been found in countless shipwrecks in the Caribbean, and circulated as legal tender in the United States until they were declared obsolete by Congress in 1857.
