Straight sided Delft drug jars are traditionally attributed to the Mid to late 17th century, but there manufacture probably continued into the 18th century. Small pots were used generally for differing ointments usually pre prepared rater than the storage of materials in the larger named jars. There is also a thought that many potions were sold in these jars for home consumption as many small pots have been found in domestic archaeological sites. This particular example although from a collection has the appearance of having been dug. Diameter 5.5 cm; Height 3.5 cm Condition very AF glued not restored. all there except chip to rim.
