GMP #12025 1:18th scale 1970 McLaren M8D driven to victory by Dan Gurney in two of the three races in the beginning of the 1970 Canadian American Championship Series. Gurney had stepped for the late Bruce Mclaren to carry the team on after Bruce's untimely death. Denny Hulme had badly injured hands , the Mclaren team needed a top class driver immediately and Dan stepped in help. This no doubt would have been a Championship winning season for Dan had not the oil company sponsorship gotten in the way; Dan was under contract with Castrol and the Mclaren team was sponsored by Gulf. This replica has been enhanced by adding handcut metal skirting to cover the unsightly mold seam behind the front wheels and the front wheels have been moved outward to provide a more realistic appearance; also fabricated are metal support rods in aluminum that brace the rear wing to the roll bar. This is a 'one of one' from my personal collection and has never been offered for sale before. It was displayed in a glass display case, no smoke, dust or offensive odors and is in excellent condition. All the original packaging, inner and outer boxes, 'fact card', David Friedman photo are included. Paypal accepted, worldwide shipping with Delivery Confirmation included. This is a No Reserve auction. Please note I will be away on business 2/14-217 unable to respond
