1800's Bronze Eagle Servant's Entrance Door Knocker

This is a very nice item that I recovered many years ago from a rear door of a large hotel overlooking Wernersville Pa. The mansion was the Grand View hotel and heath resort for many years. It became the Grand View Sanatorium at some point in history. You can find postcards showing the beautiful building by searching for Wernersville Grand View. The mansion burned to the ground when I was a boy living a mile down the road. My father fought the fire that took the entire building. I recovered this small servant's entrance door knocker from the wreckage. It is solid bronze and has an American eagle sitting on a scrolled shelf. Works perfectly and did not melt. Nice chocolate bronze patina from age. This was an original piece of the building that was built in the 1800's. Measures only 3 1/4 inches tall and is perfect for an apartment or side door. A little small for the front door. Two integral screw holes for attaching it to the door. Nice relic.
