This is an early 182 lb M & H Armitage Mouse Hole Blacksmith Anvil that comes with Custom Stand. The side of the anvil is stamped M & H Armitage Mouse Hole with English hundred weight system: 1 . 2 . 14. The weight system indicates this anvil weighs 182 lbs. The stamping dates manufacturing of this anvil between 1820-1835. This is a pre-civil war anvil that is perfect for civil war era reenactments. The Mouse Hole Anvil Works was located in Sheffield England along the Rivelin River which powered t helves hammers to make anvils. This anvil is also accompanied by a heavy steel custom anvil stand that has hammer holders and a tong rack. The stand is a bit tall, though buyer could shorten legs. The anvil face is 32 7/8" with stand from floor. This is a wrought iron bodied anvil with a steel face plate. The anvil has a nice rebound and typical ring found in mouse hole anvils. The edges and horn have been lightly and properly dressed. The edges are nice and free from chipping. The horn points up as it should. The horn, table and face show typical use dings and marks from the 170 plus years of use. Overall a great Anvil that would make anyones day. Anvil does not show any repairs.
