1851 French Medal for the Statue of General Marceau, by Caque for Paris Mint

We have just received four beautiful mint state collections of medals that we will be selling in a special Thursday night auction for the next 12 weeks. This medal is one of the 52 small rare bronze medals in one of these collections. These medals are almost all produced in the mid-19th Century by the Paris Mint, many engraved by Borrel and Caque. We are offering a beautiful medal from France, the 1851 French Medal Issued for the Inauguration of the Statue of General Marceau, City of Chartres, Engraved by Caque for the Paris Mint. The medal is 24.99 mm in diameter and is made of bronze (with a total weight of .313 ounces or 8.7 grams). The medal has very beautiful rich medium brown color, with sharp well detailed and very high relief smooth surfaces. It would be a very nice addition to your collection.
