Bartlett. Published by George Virtue & Company in New York in 1856. 698 pages. Originally part of a three-volume set, this is Volume III only.

A famed and richly illustrated pre-Civil War history of the country, lavishly bound in three-quarter morocco with gilt-stamped decorations and lettering on cover and spine. Image of Lady Liberty on front cover gazing upward at a halo of thirteen stars. All page edges very brightly gilded. Tightly bound. Book in VERY GOOD PLUS condition overall. This volume is devoted to the history of the country from the War of 1812 to the period just after the Mexican War.
