Here is an interesting Stampless 1861 Civil War era letter sent from Richmond, VA to a Mrs. Susan M. Brunson of Duntonsville, Edgefield District, S.C. The edge of the letter reads “Post Master Forward.” There is no stamp, only the stamped number “5”. The cover measures 5 1/4” by 3 1/8”.
