1863 1 st ed History of American CIVIL WAR Abe Lincoln MAPS Illustrated 2v SET

John Stevens Cabot Abbott (1805-1877) was an American historian, pastor and author. He was a voluminous writer of books on Christianity, history and military affairs.

This two volume work is a comprehensive summary of the War of the Rebellion (American Civil War), and was considered the very best summary until Allan Nevin's summary, nearly 50 years later. There is particular close attention paid to the period between Lincoln's election and his inauguration including the treason in Buchanan's cabinet.
