RARE 1864, Confederate Western & Atlantic R. R. Passenger Pass

Offered is a rareWestern & AtlanticConfederateRailroad passenger pass dated 23 January, 1864. Pass reads “Connecting roads, please pass J. R. Wallace to Saltville”. This is a great find for a railway that operated in the Confederacy during the Civil War.While a number of tickets for this Confederate railroad are offered, passenger passes are seldom seen for sale. From April 12, 1861 through November 16, 1864, the Western and Atlantic Railroad played a major role in the Civil War. At first, as a troop transport taking Georgia troops north to Chattanooga, Tennessee, it would later serve taking casualties to makeshift hospitals in Dalton, Kingston, Cartersville, Marietta and Atlanta. The pass has some soil, to be expected, and has some wear on the edges.I strive to offer well preserved covers and describe them regarding available information, condition and appearance so the buyer has no surprises when they receive their cover, unlike too many sellers who don’t describe faults. See Scans for appearance and condition.
