Rare 1868 Bolton General Election "John Hicks & Col William Gray" Jug

A rare jug for the 1868 General election in Bolton which was won by William Gray for Conservatives. The jug depicts the 2 main candidates and on one said has the portrait of Conservative William Gray and says "Lieut Col Gray M.P. For Bolton" and on the other side that of the Liberal John Hicks and says "John Hicks Esq, M.P. for Bolton". William Gray was a local cotton mill owner who held Bolton for the Conservatives from 1857 to 1874. John Hick was an engineer after whom the class of railway locomotive is named, was the other Bolton M.P. from 1868 to 1880. The Jug is decorated with a design in black around the rim border and handle. It is approx 4 inches high and in general good condition and just has some age staining and a little rough patch on the spout--thus low price. **Please check our payment and postage details before bidding**
