1879 CAST IRON MECHANICAL BANK "ALWAYS DID S'PISE A MULE" DescriptionThis is a good and rare example of a dated 1897 cast iron mechanical bank, titled 'Always Did S'pise a Mule'. There is a seated negro at the rear holding a rod in his hand, with a slot under his seat for a coin to be placed. The button is pressed and the mule kicks, knocking the negro back in his seat and allowing the coin to fall into the bank underneath. It measures 10 inches long and 6 inches high. The model is all complete, apart from tail not hanging down at the back, and in working condition but there are some paint flakes and wear over the figures. Lovely find still.
