1882 UK MINES INSPECTOR HUGE VOL+C/F/PLANS EXPLOSIONS FLOODS PARLIAMENT HMSO 1st

1882. UNITED KINGDOM MINES AND MINING ACCIDENTS. “REPORTS [with plans] OFMINES INSPECTORS FOR THE YEAR 1881” . Presented to Both Houses of Parliament by Command of Her Majesty. London: printed for Her Majesty’s Stationery Office by Eyre and Spottiswoode 1882. Parliamentary Paper C.-3621. First edition.

Rare, very heavy folio size volume (13" by 9"), , generally in very good condition incl. foldouts, still in the rare original blue printed wraps which are a bit tired and faded with chipping to spine. It deserves a proper hard-cover binding. The book contains 14 separate official reports by H. M. Inspector of Mines. A massive report. There are xxxvi, and 602 pages altogether, plus 18 folding plates, maps and plans including some coloured, and 8 full-page plans and plates. The colored mine plan pictured is one of the small ones…a few are very large. Many plans illustrate terrible accidents when many miners died through gas, explosions, flooding, or roof collapses- their names are often printed on the plans.

There are 14 individual Reports contents list titled as follows:-

1)REPORT FOR THE YEAR 1882 OF .....H. M. INSPECTOR OF MINES FOR THE MANCHESTER AND IRELAND DISTRICT TO HER MAJESTY’S SECRETARY OF STATE, etc.
