1897 LG FRENCH CHARGER ROBIN HOOD & MAID MARRION NO RES This listing is for a large 19th century French charger from 1897 exhibited at the Brussels World Exposition of 1897. The framed charger measures 19 1/2 inches at 49.5 cm in diameter. The charger itself measures 14 inches or 35.5 cm in diameter. As you can see by the photographs the charger is quite beautiful. The charger shows Robin Hood stopping Maid Marion in a wood. The young woman is carrying a basket of flowers. She is very pretty and has a very sweet and innocent look on her face. He is dressed in his traditional garb complete with crossbow and long spear. The painting is very good. It is colorful and the fauna very well rendered. The frame is carved and gilded gold wood. Between the wood and the porcelain is a protective velvet liner. The back of the porcelain has an Exposition label from the 1897 Brussels exposition an another unreadable sticker. P lease see photos.
