Staffordshire England ~ C. 1830 This is a whimsical little child's transferware ABC Plate circa 1830. This piece measures 6 7/8 inches across. The plate is light weight and beautifully potted with a thick pearlware glaze, in an earthenware ironstone material. The Plate transfer is in shades of polychrome colors of browns, reds and greens with some blue. The outer rim has the alphabet embossed in old english style letters, with a detailed scalloped pattern just under the letters around the inner circle. The transferware is of 2 horses and their riders who appear to be on a hunt scene with their dogs. I supplied a close up for viewing. These ABC plates are rare to find and always a treasure to own! The piece is marked,C. A & Sons and most certainly made in the Staffordshire, England Region. Plates like this were made as gifts for good children, rewards of merit and Christenings, educational means or other special occasions. The condition of this exceptional plate is EXCELLENT. Clean and bright with normal wear. Free from any other chips or cracks! Nicely potted transferware with a good deal of attention to detail. It is amazing that these were made for children at such young ages, so long ago! I am listing many more of these Child's mugs and ABC Child's plates! Shipping is quoted parcel post UNINSURED. I do require insurance, as
