1908 HANDWRITTEN DIARY Hamilton Madison Co. New York NY

1908
HANDWRITTEN
DIARY

----------------------

This auction is for a fabulous 101 YEAR OLD antique diary / journal / manuscript -
The man who wrote it was JEROME HOLMES .
He lived in
SOUTH HAMILTON, Madison County, NEW YORK.
He was born about 1834.
According to his 1880 Census records, his wife's name was Ruth O.,
but I think he remarried since the census was taken as he doesn't mention a "Ruth",
but rather he writes of "OLIVE" ....
I suspect "Olive" was Mary's middle name.
He had three children,
EMMA, JOHN, and CLARENCE.
I will include a copy of his 1880 Federal Census record.

I WILL ALSO INCLUDE A SECOND DIARY FROM 1871.
The 1908 diary measures 3" x 5", and it has 365 handwritten entries,
and the entries are a paragraph in length.
It is in good condition with no loose or missing pages.
The 1871 diary measures 2 3/4" x 4", and it has 112 entries.
The entries in this second diary are short and consist of one to ten words.
The diary is in good condition with no loose or missing pages.
