This is a large format rotogravure showing General Pershing, the Commander-in-Chief of the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I, riding in the Bastile (Bastille) Day Parade of July 14, 1919.

We have obtained a large collection of original folio-size rotogravures from The New York Times which were printed in 1922 and which covered historical events, people, and places from 1914-1922. Any of these items would look stunning framed.

About Rotogravure: Rotogravure is a printing method using a rotary press with intaglio cylinders which allows for quality halftone reproductions to be printed at high speed on inexpensive paper stock. Newspapers, beginning with The New York Times, were able to make effective use of this technology, and many published regular rotogravure pictorial sections in their publications during the early 20th century.
