ORIGINAL 1930'S - 1940'S CAST IRON BOSTON TERRIER BULLDOG BULL DOG DOOR STOP DOORSTOP, ORIGINAL PAINT, IN EXCELLENT, NEAR MINT CONDITION! This Vintage Wedge Doorstopper was made by the EMIG Foundry of York, Pennsylvania in the early part of the twentieth century. EMIG became better known later on after it moved to Reading, PA, for its collectible trivets. The foundry closed in the 60's. It is stamped with the "EMIG #6001" on the back of its leg. You can find a photo of this early EMIG trademark in "The Doorstop Book" by John and Nancy Smith on page 19. This antique dog is also pictured in the Paul Hiller Book "Boston Terrier Collectibles". It measures 7" high and 6 ½" long. This doorstop appears to have been attic stored and never used, or displayed only. EMIG made their black cast iron to withstand trivet use, but not the hand painted white trim! To find one with this much of the white still intact is remarkable. The eyes are still perfect! You will often find reproductions of this doorstop, but this is one on the original, earlier twentieth century doorstops! Beautiful
