Offered is antique fireplace scene motion lamp. Dates to the 1930's. Unknown manufacturer but is marked Patent Pending at bottom of back cover. It appears to be a very scarce model. I found an identical clock on one site with many motion lamps and they had estimated age as the 1930's also. It is an interesting lamp. Lamp features a man sitting in an easy chair smoking a pipe and reading the paper. A pet dog is looking on. The fireplace has a lion decoration on top of the mantel. Back cover is an intricate deco design on top and bridge scene on bottom. Construction is cast white metal that has a copper plate patina that was commonly used in the 1930's. Spinner and mechanism are somewhat unusual in that the support is an aluminum half bulb cover that fits on a standard light bulb. The spinner is supported on a brass cone that sits atop the mount needle. Bulb cover is a nice fit and stays in place. Spinner is in excellent condition and has a tinned metal top rather than cardboard. Lamp worked correctly with a 40 watt bulb but did not rotate well with a 25 watt. In my opinion the 40 watt is too hot for continuous use. Lamp is in very good condition. There is some wear to the copper finish. There are some usual casting flaws but no breakage or dents.
