1934 Chicago Worlds Fair Custom Photo Album, 165 Photos

For bid is a custom made album of photographs of the 1933-34 Chicago World's Fair, taken and assembled by an unidentified photographer or photographers. The photographs are pasted into a commercially made album, 7-1/4" x 9-1/4" x 1-5/8", containing 49 black paper leaves (98 pages) with a metallic gold colored emblem of the fair on the front cover. The lower right corner of the first blank page has been cut away - see photo detail with a sheet of white paper laid behind the page to highlight the missing portion.

The album contains 165 black and white photos, mostly 3" x 4" size with 1/8" white borders. They are entirely pasted onto the pages, with neatly lettered captions in white ink below most of the individual photos, and reference numbers in pencil to one side. 48 of the photos have the caption "A Century of Progress / Chicago 1934" in white in the lower left corner of the image, but these do not all appear to be commercially produced views, and the caption may have been added by a photo developing service. The photos are mostly pasted two to a page, and are numbered sequentially from 1 to 165. The first two and last fifteen pages in the album are blank.
