1934 non-FAM first flight US - Mexico, pilot signed, RR

1934 non-FAM first flight US - Mexico, pilot signed, RR March 14, 1934 first flight by Lineas Aereas Occidental (LAO, sister company of Varney Speed Lines), cacheted cover flown from Los Angeles to Guadalajara, autographed by the Varney/LAO pilot, Avery black. Rare in form shown; unlisted in FAM section, since Varney did not have a US postal contract. Timing of this short-lived service is particularly interesting - it falls into the emergency period, when all domestic airline contracts were canceled, and airmail inside US was carried by Army planes. [Related to AAMC Mexico 53]. ____________________________________________________________
