Hello dear friends, today for sale ~a exceptional antique 1936 Berlin Summer Olympic games Commemorative bronze figure of a sportsman rower. The rower holding a laurel wreath a symbol of victory and oar. Completely made of cast bronze and with nickel plated finish, mounted on heavy black marble stone base. The sportsman dressed in typically sport costume from this time period design. Berlin 1939 Olympics logo with Brandenburg Gate on base. Minor losing of nickel on figurine, no chips or damages, minor traces of age. Selling it in As Is state. Measures: 20 1/2''h. base 6''diameter. Historical reference; Rowing at the 1936 Summer Olympics featured 7 events, for men only.The competitions were held from August 11, 1936 to August 14, 1936. They were held on a regatta course at Grünau on the Langer See.The competition was dominated by the hosts, Germany, who medaled in every event and took five of the seven gold medals. The final race, men's eights, was won by a working-class United States team from the University of Washington who, in what had become their trademark, started slow and outsprinted the competition to an exceedingly close finish, with only one second separating the top three finishers at the end of a six-and-a-half minute
