If you're interested, make us an offer - every one will be carefully considered! This is an Antique, New York City Subway R-12 Front Destination Rollsign section. This sign is made of a glossy, cloth-like material called Vellum. It measures 19x30 inches. This sign came from the R-12 cars of the IRT subway, which were built in 1948 by American Car & Foundry. There were only 100 cars built. The last of them were retired and scrapped in 1981. Each car had two "signboxes" at each end of the car. Each signbox housed a full rollsign. The one on the left displayed the route, while the one on the right displayed the destination. This section is one panel (two destinations) of the IRT (Interborough Rapid Transit). The full sign comprised of many of these panels stitched together. The rollsign measures 19 inches wide by about 30 inches long. Readings include the following: PELHAM BAY PARK E.177TH ST PARKCHESTER Pelham Bay Park is the end destination of the 6 Train. 177th Street/Parkchester is a station along the Pelham elevated in the Bronx. Sometimes, trains would be turned around here during the rush hour. It is the end of where the 6 Train can handle express service. This sign is in excellent shape. Please review the photos. This sign is glossy. Great for bar or restaurant, dorm room, den, etc. Makes a unique gift that you can't buy
