1944 no "P" mintmark - FAMOUS HENNING NICKEL

UP FOR BID IS A 1944 NO "P" MINTMARK- FAMOUS HENNING NICKEL. IN 1954 A NEW JERSEY MAN NAMED FRANCIS L. HENNING PRODUCED ABOUT 1/2 MILLION OF THESE NICKELS. HE ONLY GOT ABOUT 100,000 INTO CIRCULATION BEFORE HE GOT CAUGHT, THE REST WERE DUMPED AND TRASHED AND VERY FEW WERE EVER RECOVERED. THE REGULAR 1944 NICKEL IS 35% SILVER AND HAS A MINTMARK ABOVE MONTICELLO ON THE REVERSE. THE NICKELS HENNING MADE CONTAINED NO SILVER AND WAS MISSING THE MINTMARK. THIS NICKEL WEIGHS 5.36 GRAMS. A LITTLE OFF FROM A NORMAL NICKEL OF 5 GRAMS. THESE NICKELS ARE ALWAYS IN DEMAND DUE TO THE HISTORY AND LEGEND BEHIND THEM.
