Up for Auction is a genuine 1944 pattern Imperial Japanese Army Officers Sword. The following information was written up for me by a Japanese sword expert and I take no responsibility for its accuracy. -star stamp Army Arsenal Acceptance/Approval Stamp -Showa 18th year (1943) 8th month (August) Lucky Day -Left-to-Right file marks on tang -2 peg holes -"Kari Jiri" chestnut shape tang -35" overall length -26 3/4" cutting edge ("uba-ba" unsharpened section at notch) -"suguha" straight line tempered edge with "notare" gentle waves and areas of crystalline structures and double temper lines -hand forged, water tempered -high "shinogi" ridge line -"iori" root-peak shape on back of blade -"chu" medium length point -"midare komi" flow through temper pattern to point -"ka-en"flame pattern "boshi" tip -standard polishing marks on upper notch -one piece silver wash solid copper "habaki" collar -1944 pattern Imperial Japanese Army Officers sword -stingray skin on handle -two peg holes on tang (screw hold) -solid oval iron "tsuba" handguard -wood scabbard w/ pear-skin pattern dark brown lacquer -dark brown lacquer treated cotton cord handle wrapping -pair of 3 cherry blossom "menula" handle ornaments Item is sold as is and all sales are final.
