1946 Boston Red Sox Team Autograph Signed Ball Baseball

This is a 1946 American League Champions Boston Red Sox team autographed baseball. The ball is an Official American League Reach William Harridge ball and is signed in ink by 22 team members. I see signatures of Manager Joe Cronin, Ted Williams, Johnny Pesky, Bobby Doerr, Dom DiMaggio, Tex Hughson, Mickey Harris, Mace Brown, Hal Wagner, Johnny Lazor, Joe Dobson, Tom Carey, Clem Dreisewerd, Roy Partee, Paul Campbell, Randy Heflin, Rip Russell, Wally Moses, Rudy York, Earl Johnson, Mike Ryba and Eddie Pellagrini. I feel very certain that the Ted Williams signature is printed on the ball with a rubber stamp in black ink on the sweet spot. All other signatures are signed in 2 shades of blue ink. This ball has been shellacked which shows some minor cracking and soiling. T is a shallow tack hole near the Reach logo. All signatures are dark and easily readable.

This ball was without question signed in 1946. 1946 was Mike Ryba and Johnny Lazor's last year on the team. It was the year Ted Williams and Johnny Pesky returned to play from their service in World War Two. Wally Moses was traded to Boston by the White Sox on July 23, 1946. We tfore know that this ball was signed in the last 2 months of the 1946 season, possibly during the 1946 World Series that occured October 6-14. The Red Sox lost the World Series to the St Louis Cardinals
