Available is an EXTRAORDINARILY RARE Gerald Freedman print of his 1946 Ingersoll Art Award Contest winning painting "First Movement - Allegro".Ingersoll was a watch company, a subsidiary of the US Time Company (which later became TIMEX).The print measures approximately 10" x 14" and is mounted on 14 1/2" x 17 1/2" card stock. The back of the print indicates that the print on the front is an award winner, as well as the name and brief biography of the artist.Gerald Freedman(1927) is the Dean Emeritus of the University of North Carolina School for the Arts and was an American theatre director , librettist , and lyricist . During high school won an major awards for his painting, the 1946 Ingersoll Art Award in competition with almost 8,000 other entries. His first credit as a Broadway director was the 1961 musical The Gay Life . Additional Broadway credits include the 1964 and 1980 revivals of West Side Story , The Incomparable Max (1971), Arthur Miller 's The Creation of the World and Other Business (1972), the 1975 and 1976 productions of The Robber Bridegroom , both of which garnered him Drama Desk Award nominations as Outstanding Director of a Musical, The Grand Tour (1979) with Joel Grey , and The School for Scandal (1995) with Tony Randall .
