Note: T are several photos at the bottom of this description, in addition to the main photo at top left. Please be patient while they load... Up for sale is this Emerson Model 540A tube radio in a beautiful and rare Mint Green plaskon cabinet. It dates from 1947 and was billed as a "Miniature Miracle" by the manufacturer. This tiny shelf radio measures just 6.5" wide by 4.75" tall and is 3.75" deep. T were originally four colors: Red, Ivory and Green plaskon, and Walnut bakelite. I've found photographs of the other colors on several web sites ( TubeRadioLand has a nice writeup and some very good photos) but was unable to find any site that has a photograph of the green. The cabinet on this radio is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks -- the one possible exception is a tiny little mark on the bottom (center back) which looks like a scratch but could also be a very tiny hairline crack. (See photos, below.) The radio is complete inside and out; it comes on and t is some static but I couldn't pull in a channel. Volume works, tuner works, the knobs are original as is the dial and the speaker grill (which is good). The dial is some sort of thin celluloid-type plastic and does look a little scuffy but the Art Deco numbers are perfect and it should clean up nicely. T is one small piece missing from the top of the pasteboard backing
