Welcome back to all my regular customers who know me as CommodoreTVP. I have recently set up a separate Ebay account to focus on selling ocean liner and travel related items. Just arrived from England: Among true ocean liner afficionados there is no cruise ship more legendary than Cunard's Caronia of 1948. Built in Britain in the difficult post war years, marked by shortages and deprivations, she was designed to bring much needed hard currency (dollars) into the British economy. She was a "dollar ship" designed for the American market. To differentiate her from her trans Atlantic fleetmates she was painted in three shades of green and became known as "The Green Goddess." For twenty years she carried wealthy Americans on long cruises to the far corners of the earth This book celebrates the Green Goddess and her predecessor and successor ships that carried the name. The first Caronia was a handsome two stack liner from 1905. The Caronia name was again used in 1999 to try to give some panache and a few extra years to the aging renamed Vistafjord of 1973. ( I sailed on her and, sadly, it didn't work) Written with great detail and affection, this 80 page British book was publshed in 2000 to commemorate the 1999 renaming of the Vistafjord
