You are bidding on an Original Japanese Woodblock Print titled, "The Pearls. Manchuria" by the famous woodblock print artist Paul Jacoulet . Signed in pencil by the artist. Fancy PJ Seal. Print is lightly tipped on the top with acid-free framer's tape. Item can be shipped with or without the original 1950's era frame - no glass. Shipping difference is listed below. Measurement: 18 1/2" x 14 1/4". Condition : Fresh colors with matte line in margins and areas of staining/thinning on reverse only. More than 300 individual impressions of nearly sixty blocks, carved on both sides, were needed to create this ultimate technical tour de force of twentieth-century art. A companion to "Le Mandarin aux Lunettes", it was as though Jacoulet wished to display his technique by printing the silver threads on the gossamer cloth in front of his figure, rather than as a flat design on the background. The effect could not be achieved in any other medium, as the cloth seems almost to float into space.
