1950s AMERICAN BISQUE POTTERY FARMER PIG WITH STRAW HAT 13" TALL COOKIE JAR USA

This is a classic American Cookie Jar, with the Farmer Pig weighing in at a hefty 5 lbs by himself (he will come very carefully wrapped in a large protective box unless you do a free local pickup in the greater Los Angeles area). He was made in the late 1950s by the American Bisque Pottery Company of Williamstown, is marked USA on the back and is a highly prized cookie jar amongst collectors familiar with this pig. You can learn more about these cookie jars from the Supnicks' "Wonderful World of Cookie Jars" and other sites dedicated to these American treasures. This pig is 13" tall overall, is in excellent shape, has just a few faint crazing marks on his rump, one very small area of roughness on the inside rim of his hat. Otherwise, no problems at all. His colors are just exquisite: a baby blue bandanna, rosy red cheeks and mouth, rich straw color for his hat. The black for his eyes, expression and hooves are full and unfaded. The painting to his face is sassy and sweet. The glazing is even and lustrous.
