I was able to connect a 12 volt battery to the electrical system and the motor does turn in both directions through the forward and reverse switch.I did learn I don't have the key to this cart. I had to remove a carter pin to get the throttle handle to move.This is am 1952 Autoette CruiseAbout Electric cart. It was stored in a garage for 20 years but has been outside for the last 3. The top is deteriorating and I don't have the time or money to restore it like I thought I would. It needs body work and parts and batteries but it's all there. I also have the original charger and California registration. It was registered as a motorcycle.The Autoette was a microcar created and manufactured from 1948 to the 1970s by Royce Seevers, owner of the Autoette Electric Car Company Inc. of Long Beach, California . The two-seat, three-wheeled microcar was electric powered by specially made batteries from Trojan battery Co., and motive power provided by a converted 24-volt Dodge 1½ hp. electric starter motor and later a proprietary motor built for Autoette. Models included the "CruiseAbout", "Golfmobile" and "Electric Truck".Autoettes were available with a broad range of accessories, usually installed by the dealer as upgrades.
