Jack Jensen was a genuine football here who had a great career in major league baseball. He played quite well as a youngster in 1951 with the Yankees, a teammate of rookie Mickey Mantle. The Yankees dealt him, however, to the Washington Senators just a few games into the 1952 season. At his peak as a member of the Boston Red Sox, he was the American League 1958 Most Valuable Player, and led the league three different times in runs batted in. Five times in his career, he was a 100-RBI man.
