Vintage Twin Winton Pottery set consisting of a cookie jar and matching Salt & Pepper shakers. Pieces are Marked Twin Winton on the bottom. This company is was out of California and was actually twin brothers that ran it and their last name was Winton. The company was in production from 1936-1975. This set came out in 1953 and has what they called a woodtone finish. Now that I have given you a little history, I will tell you about the pieces. The shakers are large in size and measure 6" tall and 3" wide at the base. Both shakers are very nice with NO chips or damage. The cookie jar had a crack in the lid and and a chip in the lid and on the rim. The chip has been professionally repaired by my very talented husband and repainted as well. He did a great job as you can see by the pictures. He grew up with his mother having a large ceramic shop in her basement. The crack is on the backside of the cookie jar lid and he did not try to mess with it. The cookie jar displays very nicely and the shakers with it just add to its charm. The reference book I am using calls this characture a Friar, but so many other people call him a monk so I put both words in title but wanted to let you know that maker calls him a Friar. Nice olld set.
