ITEM DESCRIPTION Up for your consideration is a 1957 Gong Bell circus wagon with dual horses that's extremely hard to come by. Although the model with just the wagon was created 7 years earlier, its a lot more common.The Gong Bell Manufacturing Company began making bells and toys in 1866 in conjunction with a few other companies. When plastic was introduced into the toy industry in the 50's, Gong Bell was not able to keep pace since their specialty was wood and metal. Since the company did not make it past the 1960's their toys are more limited than a lot of other toy manufactures. Total dimensions of this toy are 18-3/4"L X 8"W X 8-1/4"H. Dimensions of the wagon opening are 7-1/4"L X 5-5/8"W. For being 56 years old, this circus wagon is in good condition. It does show some signs of use with the paper lithograph fading and missing in some areas. One of the metal wheels is missing the sticker and the bar between the horses is missing. This toy does have very good color and all wheels spin freely. When the wheels spin you here the revolving chime sound which is created by a pair of cast brass ball gongs hitting each other while rotating. This method of making the gong sound was patented in 1872. It is now time for me to pass this toy along to someone else who can enjoy it as much as I did.
