On the block is this rare 1958 vintage Gibson LGO acoustic guitar. Gibson first introduced the LGO model in 1958. The body and neck are mahogany. This guitar has a nitrocellulose lacquer finish - not polypropylene. And its woods have aged and cured for 52 years. That's something you won’t find in new or re-issue guitars. This is as sweet, vibrant, resonant and responsive an LGO as I have ever played. This year LGO has a Brazilian rosewood bridge and bone saddle unlike so many subsequent LG models that Gibson made with plastic bridges. Plastic is not a great tone wood. This one also has a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. There are no fingernail gouges in it. There is virtually no fret wear. The nut is bone. This guitar is structurally sound and has tons of character. As can be expected with a guitar this age; the lacquer finish is checked. It shows evidence of being played and handled over the years in the form of assorted nicks, little dings, chips, scuffs or scratches. Included with this guitar is the original brown "alligator" case (needs attention but the handle, hinges and clasps are all there) as are the original bridge pins (one is broken). This is a historic guitar that was built during Rock ‘n Roll’s first decade. If you can give this fabulous golden oldie the loving care and good home it deserves; bid early, bid often and
