1959 Beta Sigma Omicron (Zeta Tau Alpha) Sorority Pin

Up for auction is this great and highly collectible, vintage Beta Sigma Omicron sorority badge or pin. Beta Sigma Omicron was founded in 1888 in Columbia, Missouri. This local group started as a local women's fraternity (not sorority) and began to expand in 1891. In it's lifetime BSO initiated 15,000 members. Fifteen chapters were active at the time of the merger with ZTA (Zeta Tau Alpha) sorority in 1964. The badge features a pearl and ruby Sigma, set with six (6) full crown-set pearls and five (5) faceted rubies. This is a monogram of which the Greek letters are superimposed over each other. This pin is engraved "J.E.K., Beta Theta (chapter), and 2-24-59". This pin is a slightly different size than I have seen. It measures about 1/2" in diameter. Although unmarked I guarantee this badge to be 10k gold or better. The pin and clasp are in excellent original and wearable condition. T is a small chain attached to the back of the pin.
