1960 American Character ZERO the HERO Whimsie Doll in Original Clothing

ZERO the HERO was manufactured by the American Character Doll company in 1960.
He is 21 inches long and wearing his original football uniform that includes shirt, pants, stockings, shoes and felt helmet.
Doll and clothing are in good clean condition, with some wear to the felt helmet.
Whimsies were advertized as the "zaniest, craziest and funniest Little People" marketed to pre-teens and now hugely popular with adult collectors.
Zero the Hero has a vinyl bald head, one piece stuffed vinyl body, painted open eyes, large watermelon smile, freckles and a little white cross on his cheek.
His vinyl body is in good condition with no cracks, tears, chews, marks or foul odors.
His football uniform has a painted "O" (zero) on the front and his missing hangtag read: "Zero the Hero's the man of the day, When he runs for touchdown, We hope it's the right way!"
I have had Zero sitting next to his Whimsie friend, Tillie the Talker, who is listed in a separate auction.
Since Ohio State Buckeyes won the college championship this year, he will travel to his new home with his little "buckeye" that is sitting on his lap.
