DESCRIPTION Genre: ORIGINAL PHOTO Date of Image: 1961 Date of Issue: 1961 Subject: PHIL RIZZUTO Issuer: St. Paul Pioneer Press Size: 8" x 10" Comments:

A Vintage 1961 Original Photograph depicting New York Yankees Hall of Fame shortstop Phil Rizzuto in his early years as a Yankee broadcaster. Rizzuto would carve a legacy in Yankees lore in his 40-years behind the booth. Original caption and MAY 5 1961 stamp date are on the reverse of this photo from the year he made one of the most historic calls - Maris' 61st Home Run. And some of our favorites ....

"Uh-oh, deep to left-center, nobody's gonna get that one! Holy cow, somebody got it!"

"Bouncer to third, they'll never get him! No, why don't I just shut up!"

"All right! Stay fair! No, it won't stay fair. Good thing it didn't stay fair, or I think he would've caught it!"

"Oh, these Yankees can get the clutch hits, Murcer. I might have to go home early, I just got a cramp in my leg."
