1970 Isle of Wight Festival Original Poster

The 1970Isle of Wight Festival was the largest concert festival to date. A crowd estimated at around 700,000 to 800,000, it was larger than Woodstock and the Monterey Pop Festival combined. With so many people, t were of course issues with bathrooms, space, and trouble-makers. Luckily, the lineup, which including The Who, Joni Mitchell, The Doors, Miles Davis, and Jimi Hendrix, trumped any negative vibes. The community of Woodside Bay was less than thrilled with the crowds so the festival was discontinued until its revival in 2002.

This poster, measuring 19 7/8" x 30", is on thin paper stock. Usually, thin paper can be easily damaged. This poster has very minimal handling marks. T are no major creases or pinholes and the main image is completely unscathed. T is a slight dent along the right border, about 1 3/4” from the top corner. This is the 1 st printing of the poster because it does not list Tiny Tim and Miles Davis as they were added to the lineup after the poster was printed (but were added to the 2 nd printing). The wonderful design was created by poster artist Dave Roe and is one of our most requested Big Ticket auction items.
