For Sale: May 1971 Schwinn Sting-Ray Fastback 5-speed stick bike! Up for bids I have a very nice and very collectible Schwinn. The date code of EG000819 denotes that this bike was manufactured in Chicago in May of 1971! The bike has the ape-hanger handlebars, the 5-speed stick-shifter, the Schwinn 'Mag' pedal crank, and the color-coded seat and handlebar grips. I believe this bike to be all original, with the exception of the tires. The tires that are on it are old and dry-rotted, but are not the Schwinn originals. The new innertubes hold air just fine, and the bike is rideable, should you so choose. The handbrakes both work, the wheels both turn freely, and the bike pedals like it should. Before you ride it, I would recommend that you replace the missing rear reflector. Other than that, I believe that the bike is complete. The original 'Candy Sky' blue paint looks nice, but t are places w the paint has been chipped and scratched. The chrome is in very good shape. T was some light surface rust that I cleaned off of it, and now it shines! T is a dent on the rear fender, shown in one of the pictures, and the seat has several cracks. After all, this is a 37 year old bike- Nixon was president, and gas was 37 cents a gallon when this was new! Overall, it looks flashy and is in good condition. Please ask any and all questions before
