1975 100 Balboas GOLD brilliant uncirculated COIN OF THE REPUBLICA de Panama

Rare brilliant uncirculated .900 Fine Gold coin in the original plastic folder issued by the Franklin. When minted, the Panama Cannel Zone was a U.S. Territory. This 100 Balboas Gold Coin was the first gold coin minted by The Franklin Mint since President Franklin D. Roosevelt placed an August 14, 1933 ban on U.S. Citizens owning gold coins. On December 31, 1974, The Franklin Mint struck the first gold coins (proof of this coin) following President Gerald R. Ford's signing a bill on December 31, 2014 restoring the right for American's to own modern gold coins. This coin also commemorates the 500th anniversary (1475) of the birth of Vasco Nunez de Balboa. Vasco de Balboa was the Spanish Explorer that crossed the Isthmus of Panama and Discovered the Pacific Ocean on December 27, 1525.
